Southern Nuclear Operating Company (SNC), headquartered in Birmingham, AL, operates Southern Company's six nuclear reactors at three locations in Georgia and Alabama: two reactors at Plant Vogtle, near Waynesboro, GA; two reactors at Plant Hatch, near Baxley, GA; and two reactors at Plant Farley, near Dothan, AL. In addition, construction activities are underway for two new reactors at our Plant Vogtle location.
Supply Chain Expeditor (Corporate)
Summary of Position Duties:
The Supply Chain Expeditor is responsible for supporting various work management or project management functions, focused solely in the area of 100% material availability. This position is responsible for gathering and inputting information into the tracking systems, , including information on drawing submittals, fabrication schedules, delivery information, etc. The expediting duties for parts, services, drawings and equipment are in support of nuclear projects, refueling outages, as well as on-line outage support as required. The position would also create and distribute expediting reports and updates for multiple projects, and be responsible for maintaining this information in various tracking systems.
Specific duties include:
Review of project schedules and material delivery requirements
Set up expediting tasks for drawing submittals, source surveillance and delivery on the various project purchases
Problem–solving, incomplete information on drawings, work w/buyers on issues (change orders, expediting purchase requisitions, etc.)
Coordination with Vendor Oversight and Site Design on source surveillance needs
MAXIMO Vendor Promise Dates
Facilitation and update to the VDSS (Vendor Drawing Submittal Schedule)
Potential use of PIMS - vendor setup, PlMS problems (future for SNC)
PO and project Reports to include all outage, P1, P2 and P3 purchases
Attend various project meetings as required (Design Review, EPC, etc.)
Initiate Liquidated Damages (LD) letters for back charges
Interface w/Project Scheduler to review schedules to insure PO delivery consistent w/ project milestones
Invoice Processing and Project Closeout Requirements
Job Requirements & Preferences:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Communication, or other related field (required)
3 years of Supply Chain / Project Management Experience (required)
Experience expediting material, equipment, and / or drawings (preferred)
General knowledge of Power Plant Operations (highly preferred)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Handling tight deadlines, managing priorities, and multiple projects with positive enthusiasm
Strong ability to influence and negotiate acceptable resolutions in project expectations and schedules.
Ability to host, lead and conduct meetings, both internal and external, with executive level management and other key personnel.
Superior written and oral communication skills at various levels within the organization including management, engineering, contractors and other key stakeholders
Enterprise Solutions Software Expertise – Maximo / Oracle / Southern Company Sourcing
Customer focused with ability to build and sustain relationships with internal customers, suppliers, contractors and other key stakeholders
Basic comprehension of specifications and engineering drawings
General knowledge of Accounting Principles and broad knowledge and understanding of internal controls and associated SOX requirements
Strong MS Office application skills including Microsoft Access
Self-directed with strong initiative and personal responsibility/accountability
Professionally driven and tenacious to persevere under adverse circumstances
