Southern Nuclear Operating Company's Plant Vogtle 3&4 Site Engineering organization is seeking a high performing Electrical Engineer with an analytical mindset and strong technical and leadership skills to support commissioning and operation of the next generation nuclear power station. This position will be located at Southern Nuclear Company's Plant Vogtle in Waynesboro, Georgia.
Job Summary
This position is assigned to the Site Design Engineering organization in the Electrical Design group and is part of the Startup Engineering organization at the Vogtle 3&4 site. This position will provide electrical engineering support for design changes to integrate Vogtle 1&2 and Vogtle 3&4. This position will also develop and support design changes for the station’s electrical equipment following turnover to operations from testing. The Electrical Engineer will also be tasked with establishing processes necessary to ensure safe and reliable operation of the new units following construction. Upon successful completion of Engineering Systems training as well as obtaining Design Qualification, a Design Qualification Bonus (DQB) will be available to the Design Engineer.
Southern Nuclear, a subsidiary of Southern Company, manages and operates six nuclear power electric generating plants that provide approximately 20 percent of the electricity used in Alabama and Georgia. Specific responsibilities include:
Obtain Design qualifications and support development and implementation of design changes for Vogtle 3&4 and designs interfacing with the operating units Vogtle 1&2.
Provide electrical engineering support for the Startup Engineering department and for ITAAC Completion Reviews
Develop and maintain technical knowledge regarding AP1000 electrical systems and equipment design
Support development, implementation, and maintenance of programs, processes, and procedures as they relate to electrical systems
Participate in industry groups (EPRI, IEEE, NEI, etc.) supporting electrical systems
Requirements:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or a PE (Professional Engineer) license is required (Engineering Technology will not be accepted).
Electrical Engineering degree strongly preferred
EIT/FE or Professional Engineer Registration is desired
Common Design Process knowledge highly desired
Job Requirements:
Commercial nuclear power plant experience in electrical design, modifications, and/or systems engineering is desired
Knowledge and understanding commercial nuclear power plant regulations, codes, and standards is desired
3 years engineering experience in electrical design is desired.
3 years nuclear power plant related engineering experience is preferred
Previous design change experience is desired

Other Requirements:
The successful candidate must meet background screening and NRC Fitness for Duty requirements
Must satisfactorily complete the 5 week Systems Engineering training program
The successful candidate must be willing to travel to other plants within the fleet for mentoring during qualification process.
